Low Level Laser
Laser therapy speeds up cell repair & simulates the immune, lymphatic & vascular system
Low-level laser technology stimulates the specific areas of your body that promote natural healing and improvement. Laser therapy is acupuncture using laser light, rather than needles, and is based on decades of research into the body’s healing systems. It is safe, non-invasive, drug-free and pain-free. Laser therapy can help you manage stress, heal or improve a range of 150 physical and psychological conditions.
Successfully used for over 30 years
Low Level Laser therapy, also now known as PhotoBioModulation (PBM), involves the modulation of the biological activity of the body through the controlled delivery of light which is monochromatic and usually but not always coherent laser light. Laser therapy employs low power or ‘soft’ laser light to aid the natural healing process of the body safely and effectively. It has been used for over 30 years and is widely available in the medical field for treatment of pain, wound healing and musculoskeletal conditions.
Not Surgical Lasers
Low level lasers should not be confused with surgical lasers which are a different classification of laser. Low level laser therapy cannot burn or harm the skin. Its effects are photo-biochemical, not thermal. In addition to their direct healing applications, low level lasers also provide an alternative needle-free acupuncture medium.
Extremely Safe
Laser therapy achieves improved outcomes and rapid healing in the treatment of sports injuries, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), epicondylitis (tennis elbow), achilles tendonitis, acute and chronic back pain, adhesions, rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis, chronic oedema and fracture healing. Laser therapy is extremely safe. Low level lasers are used to treat a wide variety of conditions in medical organisations across the world. Often called ‘soft’ or ‘cold’ laser, the low intensity laser beam does not cut or burn and has no side effects, other than the feeling of relaxation. Laser goggles are worn as precautionary eye protection.
How it Works?
The physiological responses to Low Level Laser Therapy involve stimulation of the body's natural healing processes, optimising repair and helping to restore normal cellular function. Although research on precise mechanisms continues, 3 key effects have been identified.
01
Healing growth factor response through ‐
-
Increased ATP and protein synthesis
-
Improved cell proliferation
-
Change in cell membrane permeability to calcium up-take
03
Pain relief through ‐
-
Increased endorphin release
-
Increased serotonin
-
Suppression of nociceptor action
02
Immune system support
through ‐
-
Increasing levels of lymphocyte activity
-
Photomodulation of blood

The Advantages
-
Patients can benefit from resolution of soft tissue injuries and pain syndromes without the discomfort and side effects of many other forms of treatment.
-
Patients respond quickly when treating soft tissue conditions and pain, with results usually evident in the first 1-2 treatments.
-
Laser therapy works well in combination with manual therapy techniques for pain relief and improved resolution of acute and chronic pain syndromes.
